MEETING THE SEA THROUGH MEMORY

2nd Place in the National Architectural Competition for the “Regeneration and Reuse of the Western Historical Docks and Their Surroundings,” Municipality of the City of Heraklion.

Gathering all urban flows into a common point of convergence, the proposal creates a landmark that visually concentrates and diffuses the dynamics of the city, operating as a spatial tool for the expression of the city’s function. The interior of the urban void is organized into three thematic spaces, whose cohesion is strengthened through the integration of elements reflecting the monument’s contemporary role with the remnants of its past.
